Professional bettors are well educated on the horses, tracks, conditions, jockeys, and owners, and generally have enough knowledge to wager on multiple horses in multiple ways. Beginning and even fairly knowledgeable bettors do not have that depth of information and are generally best advised to stick with relatively simple straight bets, across the board bets, and other basic varieties to improve their chances of cashing tickets and collecting money. Done properly, betting on the horses can be very entertaining and potentially rewarding.
