Usually labeled Life or something similar, the career stats include how many races a horse has run and the number of wins, second place finishes, and third place finishes. Horses that consistently finish at or near the top can be strong candidates, so long as their recent history suggests they are in good running shape. The career information should also show how the horse has done in past races at that track, its record in races of similar distance at other tracks, how it performs on wet tracks, and its record on turf. Some horses run better under certain track conditions or at certain distances, and knowing which horses excel under current race conditions can give bettors an edge.
